Like the rest of the Pixel 7a, the camera is deceptively powerful. Google has already demonstrated this with the previous Pixel phones not just in the processing when the shutter is pressed but also in the editing with features such as Magic Eraser to remove objects from a picture, Photo Unblur when you just miss the shot, Night Sight for improved low-level image capture, and Super Res Zoom which allows for up to 8x zoom. Google’s aforementioned Tensor Mobile chip may not be the fastest compared to Qualcomm’s portfolio, but the Tensor’s hardware is geared towards local AI processing, including image processing.
One of the camera's biggest advantages is not the choice of lens, although they are competitive at this price point, but in the software that processes the camera data.
